Preparation (Before Session)

Prior to a tattoo session, it is important to meet up prepared. Here's what I want from you:

  • Be open to my ideas with the design and listen to the guidance I give you. I work with this on an everyday basis and just want to give you a durable and beautiful piece of art.

  • Be well rested: sleep through the night prior to your tattoo session.

  • Eat well prior to your session - remember breakfast during the day to keep your blood sugar level steady.

  • Bring sugary drinks and snacks (due to the adrenaline in your body, your blood sugar level will fluctuate. You may risk becoming dizzy and at worst faint. This is preventable by drinking something sugary and eating something sustainable while you are being tattooed.

  • A tattoo takes time and shouldn't be rushed, so prepare to sit still for a long time.

  • The tattoo is designed for you only by your tattoo artist, so do not listen to your friends and family as they are not the ones getting the tattoo. Listen to the advice and  guidance that I give you.

Does it hurt getting a tattoo?

Yes, a tattoo can be felt and the pain differs from person to person. The pain also depends on where on the body you are tattooed. However, you can control this since it will hurt less if you focus on, for example, your breath or try to think of something else. Furthermore, diet, sleep and lifestyle also play a role here.

Bringing family or friends to your tattoo session might seem like a good idea for moral support and to remove your focus. However, this is not the case since you often become more vulnerable to people you know and find it difficult to disregard the feeling of getting tattooed.

Consider going to your tattoo session alone - and always follow your tattoo artist's guidelines.
